Our friends at Auto Express have reported that production of an electric version of the next-gen Kia Soul has been confirmed, and that it will join the European line-up from mid-2014.
Set for launch next year, the next-gen Soul will be a completely new car and not a facelift. However the styling is not expected to change much, in keeping with demand in the US, where it sells well to younger buyers. There is talk that the conventionally-powered new Soul will launch at either the Chicago or New York motor shows next year.
The funky compact car has spawned several variants including a flex-fuel version for Brazil, a Red Rock Special Edition for the US and more recently a toughened-up AWD concept. You can also remind yourself of an early series of commercials – if you like hamsters.
